The media is fixated on the 100 or so people who have died in Mexico from the swine flu. But let me clue you into something that no one seems to be discussing – health care in Mexico is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.
Disease spreads rapidly through Mexico because large areas of the country lack clean water and basic sanitation. Seeing a doctor – let alone a qualified doctor – is a luxury unavailable to most of the population. Of course the flu is killing people in Mexico – so are a lot of other diseases that are successfully treated in America. People in Mexico still die from diarrhea!
I don't think so. We have antiviral medications and much better technology, but people need to go to the Dr.to be tested if they are showing any kind of symptoms. One person might recover from it just fine, but if a person has it and doesn't know it then they are probably infecting many others that might not be so lucky.
Do no underestimate the power of the mind..

I personally think we have a better chance. We have better antiviral drugs and better health care. Although some more people will probably die from the swine flu. Hopefully we can minimize loss of live.
