Overreacting. There aren't enough confirmed cases IN the United States to justify scaring the hell out of people. Moreover, there is little you can do about containing an airborne virus, so why freak people out about it? If people are that concerned, they should go out and purchase some surgical masks to wear when they go out in public and feel they may be exposed to Swine Flu. Wash your hands thoroughly (for at least 10 seconds) after using the restroom, shopping, or doing anything that would make you more susceptible. In other words, use some common sense and take proactive measures with your health until the scare is over.

I think that right now they've got it right. The virus was all over the place by the time it was identified, as from what I'm hearing the stocks of anti-viral medications are being made available in areas where there are signs of outbreak.
That's the best anyone can do. It would be possible to go into overdrive and scare people, but that wouldn't make any real difference.

They really havn't done anything about it so there isn't much of a reaction.
I think it's being portrayed as being worse than it is. I hear it's actually milder than many normal forms of the flu. People are dying in Mexico b/c they won't let sick people into the hospitals.
That said I think this illustrates how we need to close the borders. If this were a more serious illness it would be easier to contain if we didn't have floods of illegal mexicans bringing god knows waht into our country.

About 30,000 to 40,000 deaths occur due to the flu each year in the United States. That number could equate to 300,000 to 500,000 deaths worldwide.1 The majority of flu-related deaths occur in people over the age of 65.

I think they're doing a pretty good job with it (although, perhaps keeping Biden on a teleprompter would be a good idea). I think the media is sending people into a frenzy, which is BS. I mean honestly, how many people in the US have gotten it??? like 175??? out of 300 million!!!!

I think they are right on so far... no need to have a full scale alert here.
They have to follow the protocol and the advice of the CDC.

first it was don't be alarmed but now it's "serious," and joe biden sure made it worse by saying we should not use transports and stay out of mexico.
I sure hope they fix the teleprompter so we can know what is going on!

I just read there has been 68 deaths world wide from this flu but our officials have failed to tell us 36,000 people a year die in the U.S. from other flu's...this will just damage an already damaged economy.

As is their wont....uing this "crisis" to their advantage. And the MSM will praise BHO for it.

They have it just right. Its the media who is overeating.
Geez...is there anything they won't sensationalize?

I think they are appropriately reacting.

I think most of us can agree on this one, just right. Caution without panic. Biden put his foot in his mouth but hey he's Biden. Our country has a long history of VP's who say stupid stuff.

I was hoping they would seal off the Mexican border. It's not over yet. Let's hope we get some meds.
