Just rest assured if you and your mum keep hygiene tight, wash your hand fluent and wash 100%, keep some mask whenever outing.
Try not to eat food from roadside although it's the best in BK, try to eat in food court or restaurant, keep away crowded places and keep your alert level at the peak (Keep away when people coughing in front of you).
I can still say it's safe to travel to BK, I just came back last Monday but immediately go see doctor (heehee).
Worse of all, cancel the trip if you still felt unsafe or else it'll spoilt your mood travels oversea.
(No hard feeling, mainly personal opinion)

According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) -
Every year in the United States, on average:
* 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu;
* more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu-related complications; and
* about 36,000 people die from flu-related causes.
The CDC created that estimate in 2003 based on respiritory related deaths. Not just the flu. 90 percent of people who actually die from the flu are over 65.
I think "News" agencies and the WHO should be shut down. Propaganda and disinformation. Using scare tactics.

You have a good chance of getting this flu right in your own country in your own hometown even! It's everywhere!
You do know that the regular, annual flu kills hundreds of people every week! In the course of a normal year "good old regular flu" kills around 36,000 people in the US alone! Although this new H1N1 flu is killing people and is moving fast it is (so far) not as bad as an ordinary annual flu!
In the course of a year worldwide - regular flu will kill around 250,000 to 300,000 people.
So, travel if you have the time and money or stay home and still get the flu - either the new one or one of the annual flu's! Or most likely not get either flu!
Up to you!
