It's not actually a pandemic yet.
The swine flu has been confirmed in 150 cases in the last two weeks- plain old asiatic flu would have swept through tens of thousands by now.
If swine flu is a particularly vicious strain, at least it isn't terribly contagious.
Phase 5 means that W.H.O. considers it a "Potential" pandemic- they're preparing for the worst, just in case the virus mutates into something worse than it already is. Predicting a mutation is a lot like picking the winning lottery numbers.

No. There has been an outbreak of swine flu before. It's nothing to worry about. It's just another type of the flu, like every year. There is always a different type of influenza every year that's why it can't be cured. Just do the regular things to avoid getting sick: wash your hands every time you use the bathroom and if you're really that worried, carry hand sanitizer around with you. Otherwise just chillax.
Besides, I ride the bus every day and I'm still fine. I'm not going to stop just because the media is causing a widespread panic in the world.

Carry hand sanitzer. Wash your hands constantly. It's the most simple solution to not catch disease.

I wouldn't bother to avoid them especially if, like most of the country, there are no cases in your area.
