If you wikipedia either of those terms there are very accurate desciptions of both. If you search "WHO" for "World Health Organization" you will have the charts and graphs, too.
It will explain to you in detail what's what - and what it means.
CDC is only so helpful - but trust me on the wiki. I read the whole thing myself just as confused the other day and now I understand it perfectly.
