Same symptoms plus vomiting in some cases. I'm not a doctor, so I don't really know how Drs different one from another, but I'm sure they know what they are doing, well, the ones here in the US anyways, I'm not so sure about the Drs in Mexico, so sad so many people are dying! :(

The symptoms are similar to those of regular flu — fever, cough, fatigue, lack of appetite. The CDC recommends the use of the flu drugs Tamiflu. You can buy online cheap Tamiflu directly from India here: http://tinyurl.com/dy443e About 1918 read here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1918_flu_pa...

The Swine Flu has a lot more vomiting and diarrhea than the ordinary Flu. The doctors tell the difference because the patient would be in a lot more pain and the patient would be coughing and sneezing. Hope I helped!

It's really funny how much the media has actually scared the **** of america. How many deaths have come from the swine flu?How about in the US?How about how many were babies or old people?The swine flu has been around before. The only problem was that it was around before we had our huge system of fear in the mass media. People please how many times can the media cry wolf before we stop believing? Let me list a couple of things you should think about before even batting an eye about the swine flu.
Avian Flu
Killer Bees
More terrorists acts in the US
Monkey Pox
Should I keep going or is this sufficient? Please do research on your own before believing everything the news agency says.

in 1919, medical needs sucked.
The only difference between swine flu and the ordinary flu is that of distraction. They have a vaccine for it, you can die from it just like you can from any other flu.
Killer Bees were suppose to end our lives a few years ago too, don;t worry about it all that much.
This is just a chance for Obama to distract people from the **** economy in attempt to make people more trustworthy of the government and that were heading towards socialism anyways, so why not have the government send us vaccines

Considering that the WHO is not even mentioning a mortality rate, you can say there isn't much difference.
All this talk about a pandemic, etc, and yet they're not talking at all about a mortality rate. Who cares about a pandemic that isn't lethal. Yes, it's a fact of life. People die from the flu - even the most ordinary flu. Realize that this is all just fear mongering and look at the facts. It's not that big of a deal. If it has a mortality rate of 10%, then it will be a big deal. Bird Flu, H5N1 has a mortality rate of around 75-80%. THAT is one to fear if it ever becomes a pandemic.

Swine Flu and the flu have basically the same symptoms( Cough, sore throat, fever, fatigue, chills and body aches) they are both contracted the same way. doctors diagnose swine flu by running a swab under your nose and i believe that that Spanish influenza killed as many as 100 million people in 1918 (not 1919 or 1916)

Straight Talker said...

Yes, that number of people did die in 1919 but you need to remember that back then sanitation was poorer, hygeine, nutrition, drugs, medical care in general? Everything was poorer.
Every year in the UK 8000 people die from regular flu.
So far the mortality rate of this swine flu appears to be around 5% of those who contract it. 7% at the very highest.
Without bombarding you with science, certain blood tests taken will reveal what virus you have, the difference int he virus appearance will seperate it from regular flu.

The difference between ordinary flu and swine flu is ordinary flu doesn't really do too much harm to you. Ordinary flu only makes you sick, and it's not as serious. You can get ordinary flu over with easily.
Swine flu is serious, and can seriously cause death. Swine flu can spread quickly around the world, and so far in Mexico, it killed surely a bunch of people that didn't watch out. Wash your hands carefully, don't pick on your nose, and don't rub your eyes. If you really need to rub your eyes, use hand sanitizer or wash your hands first. Try not to touch your face much. I recommend you use hand sanitizer. I've tried it and it helps a lot. Don't forget to watch the news for more information on the swine flu!

There are no particular symptoms that distinguish swine flu from other types of flu. Symtoms like diarrhea and vomiting are also associated with swine flu. Those symptoms can also be caused by many other conditions, and that means that you and your doctor can't know, just based on your symptoms, The basic symptoms for swine flu are similar to the seasonal flu which may include:
* Fever of more than 100
* Coughing
* Runny nose and/or sore throat
* Joint aches
* Severe headache
* Vomiting and/or diarrhea
* Lethargy
* Lack of appetite
Diagnosis is the identification, by process of elimination, of the nature of anything. Diagnosis is used in many disciplines: medicine, science. Blood test is done to identify swine flu from normal flu.
H1N1 flu's are descendants of the 1918 pandemic strain. Due to mutations. the flu shot may or may not work, Therefore, there's no vaccine available for this new swine flu. This has instilled fear among the people that millions of people will die before a vaccine can be made.
Regular swine flu is a contagious respiratory disease, caused by a type-A influenza virus that affects pigs. The current strain, A(H1N1), is a new variation of an H1N1 virus which causes seasonal flu outbreaks in humans. It also contains genetic material of bird and pig versions apart from human genetic material. Surprisingly, this version has never before been seen in neither human nor animal.
A few months ago, scientists concluded that the 1918 flu pandemic that killed between 50 to100 million people worldwide in a matter of 18 months, was not due to the flu itself. Instead, they discovered the real culprit was streptococcus pneumoniae infections in which people with influenza often get what is known as a "superinfection" with a bacterial agent. In 1918 it appears to have been Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Streptococcus pneumoniae causes pneumococcal infections and affects children and adults worldwide. S. pneumoniae infects the upper respiratory tract and can cause pneumonia, as well as infections in other parts of the body such as in the bloodstream (bacteremia), lining of the brain and spinal cord (meningitis), bones (osteomyelitis), joints (arthritis), ears (otitis media) and sinuses (sinusitis).
The researchers concluded that, since strep is much easier to treat than the flu using modern medicine, a new pandemic would likely be much less dreadful than it was 91 years ago.

You want to know the difference?? The only difference between swine flu and the ordinary flu is the amount of media coverage! Most people are not aware that the ordinary flu that goes around every years kills tens of thousands of people but you almost never hear about it. With swine flu, every-time someone in the world gets it or dies from it, it's posted on the news number for number and constantly updated by the hour. The mainstream media is to blame for all the panic. They always exaggerate for the sake of ratings=$$$. Imagine if cancer was reported like swine flu, where every hour the mainstream news updated you on how many people in the world were just diagnosed with it or died of it. People would be then freaking out and panicking about cancer. Remember when the mainstream media reported the Y2K problem back in 1999? Apparently every computer in the world was going to crash....then NOTHING HAPPENED! Remember SARS? The world DID NOT END! Remember bird flu? The world DID NOT END! Though nothing happened that still didn't stop the mainstream news networks from profiting from the sensationalism. If you want advice, turn off CNN and go outside and live your life.

The symptoms of swine flu in people are expected to be similar to the symptoms of regular human seasonal influenza and include fever, lethargy, lack of appetite and coughing. Some people with swine flu also have reported runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
If you are sick, you should stay home and avoid contact with other people as much as possible to keep from spreading your illness to others.
If you become ill and experience any of the following warning signs, seek emergency medical care.
In children emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:
* Fast breathing or trouble breathing
* Bluish skin color
* Not drinking enough fluids
* Not waking up or not interacting
* Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
* Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough
* Fever with a rash
In adults, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:
* Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
* Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
* Sudden dizziness
* Confusion
* Severe or persistent vomiting
Doctors will do a swab test to se if you have the flu. If you have Type A influenza the sample will be sent to the cdc to see if it is the swine flu.
