One case was just found here in MI a county away from me. I know no deaths were reported from it here in the US but I read its actually taking lives in Mexico. Im a little concerned..mostly for my 11 month old daughter....and it would suck if more cases started to pop up in my area because I work at a local hospital..how do you mommies feel?http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/

Ugh I am so worry wart about this! I wish I moved away from other planet to stay away from sick people, it's not fair that I had to worry about the flu! I hope they stay there and not come to us.

I'm not worried yet, but I am cautious. No cases in NC yet (where I am), but it's a good reminder to be vigilant about washing hands!

I'm concerned, mostly because I'm not exactly sure how to avoid it or more importantly how to identify it. I have an 11 month old, so of course I'm afraid of her getting sick. I pray its over soon.

I'm terrified! I had a micro-preemie in September and we didn't get to bring her home until Christmas day, and we had to keep her inside and not be around other people because of the threat of RSV. Now Swine Flu....it makes me VERY nervous!

I am six months pregnant and have a three-year-old, I am a little worried but the cases in the US so far have not been fatal (besides one i think). I am going to the doctor on Thursday anyway and i am going to ask her about it though.

I live in VA, and so far there are no reported cases here. Even if there were, I would not be paranoid about it. Careful, yes, paranoid, no. I'd just make sure to sanitize things better. I can't live in a shell. I will venture out with my kids unless it is truly unsafe to do so.

There's two people in Scotland who've just tested positive for this flu, and they're in a hospital really near to me. They're in isolation, so I'm not too worried. I'm just not a worrier about scare stories like this I guess, perhaps I should be.http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8020222.st...

No. But I'm in UK, where there are only 2 confrimed cases, so 2 people out of a population of 60 million are odds I like! Also, in developed countries with decent healthcare it is treatable- the two people in the UK are already recovering from it.

haha.. not too laugh about whats going on because it's so serious but i actually didn't' come into work this morning because my son woke up with his horrible cough!!! it actually sounded like the Croup barking cough. My mom and step dad, who we live with, just got back on saturday from Mexico so all i kept thinking was they gave my son this Swine flu! luckily he's fine and i think it might have been the heat!! You can never be too careful!!!

I feel really scared, it is a pandemic virus already. Avoid public crowded places or people that have the flu (since you don't know what kind they have). Wash hands constantly. If your daughter shows any of the symptoms reported (high fever, runny nose, coughing, loss of appetite, lethargy) call your doctor immediately.

Not really. I mean, my family uses proper hygeine and we don't travel to Mexico. But we do live in TX. I would be more concerned about travel to Mexico- or if I had to work in a prison (where illness has a breeding ground). You still have a much higher chance of dying in a car accident than even getting the swine flu. But nobody hesitates about getting in their car today, or putting the kids in their car seats.
The strains in TX were not bad- no one had to be hospitalized.

Yes, I am actually terrified about it.
Perhaps I am being dramatic, but I have always read up on any article involving the chances of a pandemic flu. My family and friends have always told me I am nuts, but I really believe it can and will happen at some time.
It scares the crap out of me, I just think about my son and how susceptible he could be to it, it really worries me.
I have been reading every article out there about it, and it just keeps freaking me out more and more.

I'm definitely concerned about it. I live in New England, about 5 hours from New york, where there we're 8 cases. My mother also works as a nurse in an ER, so she's near sick people all the time. As of this morning, 103 people in Mexico died from it. They also said on the news, that even though people weren't dying from it, doesn't mean it wont end up killing people. My mom was told at a conference type thing, that we haven't had a pandemic, in like 30 years, so we are do for one. They have a big storage thing, outside of my mom's hospital, with supplies for it. It honestly scares me. And the flu shots don't protect us from it.
