The child was 23 months old. Is there any way to make sure your newborn does not get this? I am not freaking out, but with one lil one dead its better safe then grieving

Thats so Sad!!! It is worrying, even more so being pregnant.
Im from the UK and two cases were confirmed on Monday and there are others that may have it but not yet confirmed.
All we can do is stay away from sick people and wash our hands all the time. Xx

It is like any other illness. You need to just be careful. Do not bring yoru child around other sick people, wash your hands, stay out of crowded places. There is not to much you can do, all illness's are dangerous for small children. Sadly there is not much you can do.

Keep the baby home and away from groups of people. You need to practice excellent health habits too. Clean hands, turn away and cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, do not touch your face with your hands, and never touch baby unless your hands are absolutely clean (scrub your nails with a nail brush).

I have a 3 month old baby and I am petrified she will get this. Their immune system is not a strong so its really scary. My mother in law thought I was nuts cause I told some lady who was looking at my baby to not breathe on her. Well just remember its your baby and if they get sick chances are you will be back in the hospital scared to death your child wont recover. while the others go about with their marry little life.
I am going to be vey creful sanitize my hands and babys too and screw people off when they come over to look at her in the grocery store. If it gets bad Ill get masks for the baby and us.

People say that for the normal strain of the flu, you really don't need to see the doctor... there's 'nothing' they can do. The swine flu is just an adapted strain; if you start to see symptoms - go to the doctor, no matter what you hear. The symptoms of swine flu are the same as any other flu virus... aches, fever & chills, vomiting, etc.

Its like any other illness. Avoid Mexico for sure, keep your child away from overly crowded places and keep their hands and toys clean. Do not visit with any friends or family recently returning from Mexico either. And if your child shows symptoms of the flu (vomitting, diarrea, fever) then get it to the doctor and let them know you are worried about swine flu

I know... and now that they have traced this swine flu outbreak back to a 5 year old Mexican boy, you realize that a catastrophe can be set into motion by even the smallest of children. My kids cyber school.. but if they were in daycare or public school I'd seriously rethink sending them.. This is spreading too fast.
