Don't people die every single year from the flu? Don't people get the flu all the time? Why is this such a big deal? Is it because it is everywhere now? Or is it that here in the USA, no one got a swine flu shot. Yes I see it as bad, but not any worse then any other year of the flu. Maybe I'm missing something, but sometimes I think the media just likes to sensationalize things and this is an opportunity to shake things up and have the world worried and afraid. What are your thoughts on this swine flu?

yeah, people are making bigger than it really is
the reason why Swine Flu is a big deal right now is because it is a new form of flu that came from pigs and that they have not created a vaccine for it.
so yes, it is a big deal because it is new and has spread quickly but come to think of it there is a national average of 36,000 americans dieing from the flu each year (CDC stats) compared to the about 73 confirmed cases of the swine flu worldwide (KUSI NEWS) which is a big difference.

its a new mutation of the flu and our bodies have no natural immunities to it, thats why it might seem like such a big deal
i think its a dangerous sickness and its spreading and causing alot of deaths, even though its in mexico, if it can spread to new york then it can spread anywhere
im 15 so dont think im some adult lecturing but i think its important for people to kno whats happening. the media does over react to some things, but most of the time doesnt the media go crazy on things like "britains got talent" and that susan boyle lady? we should be more concerned on health issues especially when there is a possibility of hundreds fo dieing
but thats just my opinion

this is very serious
I live in Mexico, people are dying within 48 hours of infection, starts as a flu and ends with a lungs collapse, as a pneumonia
schools are closed, stadiums are closed, restaurants are closed, everything until at least May 6th.
Hope it doesn't reach you the way is hitting here

Not a dang thing, this is another media hype hysteria and I feel it is irresponsible journalism at its best. Shameful. In an average year, over 35000 people die from the flu and thus far the number is zero in the USA and 150 or so in Mexico.

Because apparently scare tactics and the thought of a cataclysmic flu pandemic is a commercial diamond mine for the media.

My thoughts are the same as your thoughts... it's all a bunch of hype on a slow news week. Probably the drug companies way of drumming up federal $$$ for "vaccine research" if you ask me...
