Republican Maine Senator Susan Collins fumed about the pandemic funding, "Does it belong in this bill? Should we have $870 million in this bill No, we should not."
Oops.

Because the federal government is incapable of handling a large scale crisis.

The stimulus bill was meant to create jobs. She found that this was not the right bill to include pandemic funding.

He didn't say we should not spend the money on pandemic funding. He just said it did not belong in the stimulus bill.

With plans already in place and cash on hand, CDC admits they could not have stopped the current flu outbreak. Leave it to low IQ lefty nutjobs to make it about money and not about proper planing.

The Republicans couldn't strip it without the Democrats agreeing to it.
The Democrats didn't think it was important enough to fight over.

Here's a crazy idea...
Pass a pandemic flu defense bill if you want to fund pandemic flu defense.
I know that throwing a bunch of crap together and slapping a "stimulus" sticker on it is easier but in a pinch why not pass an actual bill dealing with an actual problem?

What oops? There's no oops there.. she was actually right for a change.
It had nothing to do with economic stimulus, and should never have been included to begin with.
If something is worth spending money on, it should be able to make a case for itself without being hidden in another bill.

This is just too rich! Go ahead, attack Senator Susan Collins. She is the turn coat that voted for the Stimulus along with two other turncoats. Blast the hell out of her! Teach her and the other two idiots, Snowe and Specter that the Democrats will destroy them whether they vote the way they want them to or not.
Susan Collins should find a new line of work.

I can't believe I am about to defend Bush..
Okay, Thanks to the SARS and Bird flu scares, in 2005 Bush appointees stockpiled record numbers of tamiflu for the US. Tamiflu is an anti-viral medication proven to take down animal born influenza pathogens. While Susan Collins probably fumed out of spit to Democrats, she was probably correct in saying we didn't need pandemic funding at this time.
We are talking about a flu virus.. Not ebola or smallpox people.

1) giving money to prevent a fake pandemic seems foolish
2) all the treatments designed to tread bird flu have been found to be effective against swine flu
3) people have died in Mexico from swine flu, they also die there of regular flu in greater numbers, in America we have nothing to worry about
4) the whole of the stimulus bill is incorrectly constructed and target, adding more, and unrelated (spending money for disease does not stimulate the economy) money does not help the economic situation
