So of course i've been watching the news, but not very steadily. Can someone explain how this sudden outbreak happened or where it started and what's the threat of it? Maybe how it spreads and if the Swine Flu and the H1N1 Virus are two different things, explain the difference please and no jokes either, i'd just like to know all about it out of curiosity.

The so called "Swine Flu" is actually H1N1 it was a mistake to call it the Swine Flu to begin with so we are stuck with it I suppose...
It really is not a sudden outbreak even though some news will lead you to believe that it is, this virus has been expected and there still is much to learn about the sequencing (virology language) of the mexican and the US types.. This appears to be a remake of 1918 lets hope it putters out.....EDIT:During 1918 some individuals got it the first round and recovered only to die after getting it a second time.. So we want to watch for mutations or reassortment is my point here
I like to go to flutrackers.com and do my best to understand.
great people and loads of info.
I have a interest in Flu and other disease and outbreaks of concern so that is how I began watching at flu trackers.
Personally I would wash hands. Eat healthy and get plenty of rest and exercise(play). Also consider healthy focus in daily life. The TV is not a good choice.
It is said the out break started in mexico.. Who really knows yet I have seen no data validating this for sure.
Appears that it can be a bad one and really not pick up speed until fall here in the USA.
Edit: After reading this I appear to say that the 1918 flu is related as a fact,I do not know this to be true.
Remember Flu kills 250,000,500,000 people every year around 36,000 in the USA yearly.
The mapping and cases around the world is a reflection of this more than a reflection of a absolute Panademic possibility.

THIS STRAIN OF H1N1 SWINE FLU HAS BEEN ABLE TO MUTATE SOMEHOW INTO THREE DIFFERENT KINDS OF STRAINS.ARIAN,SWINE AND HUMAN AND GENERICALLY CHANGE INTO A NEW AND NEVER BEFORE SEEN STRAIN THAT SOMEHOW CAN INFECT FROM HUMAN TO HUMAN.PAST HISTORY OF H1N1 COULD ONLY INFECT FROM PIGS TO HUMANS BY CLOSE PROXIMITY OR PHYSICAL CONTACT.THAT IS THE REASON WHY THIS OUTBREAK IS SO MYSTERIOUS.THE WAY HUMANS HAVE BEEN INFECTED AND THE DETECTIONS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.THEY THINK THAT THE FIRST RECORDED CASE STARTED NEAR VERA CRUZ,MEXICO IN LATE MARCH OR EARLY APRIL.THE FIRST RECORDED CASE WAS AN INFECTED YOUNG BOY WHO SINCE HAS RECOVERED.THE QUESTION IS WHY HAVE SO MANY OTHERS DIED IN THE SAME VICINITY?.MANY MORE ANSWERS NEED TO BE FOUND OUT.I PERSONALLY THINK THAT THIS NEW STRAIN HAS BEEN AROUND A WHILE.AT LEAST A FEW MONTHS.TIME IT WOULD TAKE FOR THIS THING TO TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD BY INFECTING PEOPLE.SOME VECTORS WHO GET THE VIRUS BUT DONT GET SICK BUT PASS IT ON UNKNOWINGLY TO OTHERS WHO DID GET SICK.

There are different flu viruses around. Not only humans get the flu. Birds get the flu as do pigs and other mammals. people working with poultry have caught the H1N1 flu off the birds. At this stage there has been no transmision of H1N1 flu from person to person. If that happens it is expected that the flu will be very virulent and kill millions of people. H1N1 & Swine flu are two different viruses. Viruses can change very quickly. Pigs are more closely related to humans than birds are and perhaps it is easier for flu virus in a pig to cross over to becomming a human virus. By all accounts so far, swine flu has the potential to be a significant problem but not as potenitally bad as H1N1.
People transmit flu by breathing, sneezing and coughing. It is important to wash your handss regularly and cover your mouth if you snneze or cough. If you get flu like symptoms see a doctor.

Swine flu is an airborne virus. It started in Mexico probably and has killed many. It's slowly working it's way to the U.S. Not sure about the other ones.
